The Hon CY LEUNG said: "It is extreme irony for this UK parliamentary group to showcase the so-called “effective parliament”. It is worldwide consensus that the British political system, and not just its parliament, is totally ineffective and dysfunctional. Evidence abound - Brexit becoming Regrexit, poor economy, difficult public finance, widespread industrial actions, high and rising crime rate, crumbling healthcare system, poor infrastructure…. this list could go on and on, not to mention the unelected upper house of parliament. On all these fronts, Hong Kong has done better, a lot better than the UK since it became a Chinese Special Administrative Region in 1997."
