Background Information:
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, an UK parliamentary group, rescinded an invitation to the Hong Kong Legislature to attend an upcoming global seminar “2023 Westminster Seminar on Effective Parliaments”, citing Hong Kong’s “deteriorating situation” and “serious erosion of political plurality and participation”, according to its statement. In response to the unfair comments, the organizers intend to organize a seminar on Hong Kong legislature and invite former and incumbent lawmakers to tell local and international audience why Hong Kong legislature is more democratic and representative than it was under British rule, and in particular after its revamp in 2020.

英聯邦議會聯會英國分會（The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, UK），早前突然以所謂「香港情況惡化」、「政治多元及參與嚴重侵蝕」為由，撤回香港立法機關參加西敏寺研討會（Westminster Seminar）的邀請。為回應英聯邦議會聯會英國分會不公的批評，主辦單位決定舉辦一場「香港立法會 – 過去與今天」英語研討會，並邀得部分前任及現任香港立法機構的代表出席，讓各位見證者親自闡釋，為何今日香港的立法機關，特別是在2020年「完善選舉制度」之後，相較港英年代要民主和有代表性得多。
